Meet the Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi
Active Brothers 2017 roster
Cristian Baeza
As a student under the College of Education majoring in Human Development & Learning while minoring in Sociology, I one day aspire to be a high school/college counselor. Eventually, I also want to get my masters in Social Work. Overall, I want to be able to give back to the community by assisting and mentoring students in obtaining a college diploma. Whether they are in Elementary, High School, or already in College, I want to assure that individuals are being set to succeed at all times. Some of my hobbies consist of reading, listening to music, watching Youtube videos, and volunteering. I enjoy dancing bachata and cumbia but if there is something that you should really know about me is that I will always dance “El Caballo Dorado” when played at any event. On my free time I also enjoy cooking/baking, taking pictures and trying new food (Not picky at all). By the way, I talk a lot but you probably already figured that out.

Sebastian Gomez
My name is Sebastian Gomez. I'm a senior studying psychology here at uic. I have a lot of plans for my future but what I would like to do in the next 5 years is to work in under privileged communities teaching them how to be healthy with the the resources available to them. One of the things I really enjoy outside of school is making music. I play the guitar and piano and someday hope to tour to spread my positive ideas with everyone I have the opportunity to reach.
Juan Bautista
Hello there! My name is Juan Bautista, I am a junior majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Not only that, but I am also a pre-medical student with hopes of one day becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. Although on campus I may spend most of my time at the library, on my free time I like to cruise on my skateboard, look for new places to eat, and every once in a while, I like to pick up my guitar and act like I actually know what I’m doing. I tend to greet everyone with a big smile, so never hesitate to say hi if you see me around campus. I should warn you though, I like to talk.
Juan Zavala
My name is Juan Zavala and I’m at Junior at UIC. Since high school, I wanted to be an actuary and knew that pursuing dual-degree in both Finance and Statistics with a minor in Economics would look great for the career as it involves those topics. It’s a lot of work but I know for sure that it’ll pay off in the end as it’s something I’m passionate about. I’d have to order seconds or even thirds to feel full. Some things I like to do is working out at the gym, playing video games, and eating. I love trying out new food and most of the time I usually don’t get full with what the restaurant serves. I currently work at the UIC Forum as a Student Manager and been there for a year and a half as it has it benefits with me free food but will interning after this spring until I graduate.
Rafael Rojas
I am a first-generation, senior studying finance at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Looking to pursue my master’s degree in finance with a concentration in real estate. I have been a devoted brother since Spring 2016, and have previously served on the Executive Board as the Treasurer and currently as the Alumni Relations Chair, working to strengthen the connection between current and post-graduate brothers. My academic interests and extracurricular involvements demonstrate my passion for the advancement of Latinos in the global market.
Daniel Velazquez
Please to meet you! My name is Daniel Alexandro Velazquez Garcia, but you can call me Danny. I’m majoring in Business Management under the College of Business at University Illinois at Chicago. The reason I want to major in Business Management is because my dream is to have my own restaurant because I really like food. I wouldn’t make a basic restaurant; I would make a restaurant with full of culture and color. I was born in Chicago on 1997 but a few months after I was born, my parents wanted to move to Guayabitos, Mexico, which is on the west coast. After living there for about a decade we moved back to Chicago, since then I miss Guayabitos every day, I recommend visiting there for vacation, beautiful beaches! Other than committing my time to my Fraternity, my academics, and my job, I really like working out, it keeps me focused and motivated to start the day. Please don’t hesitate to say hi to me or even start a conversation, I like talking to people! The biggest thing you’ll regret when you graduate from a college/university is not being active socially. So please consider joining a club, fraternity, sport, or anything, get yourself out there! It’ll make your college/university expirience a hundred times better!
Cristian Beltran
My name is Cris Beltran, I am a Mechanical Engineer major at UIC. I like about every sport from basketball to MMA but soccer is my main sport. I grew up in a small farm town in northern Illinois where in high school we had bring your tractor to school day, which is why I moved to the city. Other than going to State for soccer and enjoying playing video games that’s about it.
Juan Rosas
Hello, my name is Juan Rosas. I'm an Accounting major and current Senior under the College of Business. My greatest aspiration is to become a CPA in the state of Illinois. I'm usually hard at work but whenever I have free time you can find me at the rec improving myself. I'm a huge coffee enthusiast and I enjoy trying new foods. I'm not all that great with bios so if you ever see me around feel free to say hi and bombard me with questions!
Miguel Castro
Greetings, I'm Miguel Angel Castro. I'm a Graphic Design major with a minor in Business Administration under the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts. I love exercising my creative skills through visual mediums, which is why I choose my major in the first place. If I'm not siting in front of a desk designing madly you will most likely see me reading a book or doodling away in a sketch book. My other hobbies include watching anime and writing stories. My brothers say I'm savage but I don't know what they mean...Any way if you see me on campus please say hello. If you're nervous to talk to new people chances are that I am too. We can be awkward turtles together!
Enrique Guzman
Enrique “Kike” Guzman “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” As a student at UIC, I always strive to become a better student and overall a better person. Even though school can be tough at times, it is my self-determination and ambition that motivates me to continue pursuing an education. I am currently enrolled under the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in applied psychology, and minoring in Criminal Law and Justice. My goal is to one day become a high school/college counselor, as I have always found great enjoyment in mentoring and helping young students pursue their goals in life. I want to provide them with the tools and resources that they need in their daily lives to succeed that are unfortunately not always available in their own communities. This ensures that we give students a chance to achieve their dreams that, at times, may have seemed unachievable but now are well within their reach. As for me on a personal level, my hobbies include playing sports (baseball, basketball, and football), watching anime/cartoons (favorites include: Dragon Ball Z and The Simpsons), watching movies (favorite movie: The Dark Knight), and listening to music (favorite artists: Kendrick Lamar and J Cole). I also enjoy going to the gym, taking my dogs for a walk around Pilsen, and hanging out with my friends during my spare time. I am considered a very social person who always tries to look out and offer help to others in their time of need.
Joel Solis
I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in the Teaching of Mathematics with a minor in Spanish. My career goal is to have the opportunity to teach in my old high school, Morton East. Joining Lambda Theta Phi has opened many opportunities for me to achieve such goals. I am a first generation college student. I love mathematics, hip hop, and my cat Oreo. I enjoy giving back the community and through the various volunteer events that we have I am able to fulfill this enjoyment. Becoming a brother is definitely one of the greatest decisions I have done in my life it has not only open many opportunities for me but it has also bettered me as a person.
Bruno Munoz
Bon jour! My name is Bruno Adrian Munoz Cardiel and I was born at my grandparents’ hospital in Mexico. That’s pretty cool right? Well I have always found it fascinating to see family in the medical field, which is one of the reasons why I chose to pursue a career in bio medical engineering. Another reason why I chose my major is to be able to help people one way or another. Whether it be educating them in the current advances of medical technology or being in a team designing future medical devices to help distribute to the world. If you see me around campus or off-campus, don’t hesitate in saying hello. I promise I’m a friendly guy!
Alejandro Villafuerte
Hello my name is Alejandro Villafuerte, my friends and family call me Alex, but my brothers know me as Hypno's. I was born on the south side of Chicago in the Brighton Park neighborhood. Growing up I always wanted to serve my country to protect the people I love. I joined the Army while in college, and received a full ride scholarship from the ROTC program to UIC with the commitment of serving for 6 years. I'm majoring in teaching of history with a minor in kinesiology. On campus you can always find me working out at the Recreational Facility or at the ROTC building, my home away from home.
Jose Ramirez
Hello I'm Jose Ramirez a third year Business major with a concentration in Information Decision & Sciences. The direct field I am aiming to jump into would be Data Analytics because I've always loved a challenge and I see the work I do as a puzzle; Once you have one piece, it's easy to put the rest together. But enough about school work, I'm an interesting individual with different hobbies and passions. Some of my most recent passions have been working out, discovering new places in Chicago to eat, & working on myself to better myself intellectually to be someone one day & not fall into the stereotype that society has for an average Latino male. I'm always on campus with a smile on my face, so don't fear to reach out & say what's up!
